According to the Occupational Safety Regulations (Personal Protective Equipment), 1997, every employer is required to provide appropriate personal protective equipment for their employees, instruct them on its correct use, repair or replace defective equipment, and enforce its usage. Employees are also required to use the personal protective equipment correctly as intended, maintain its condition, and return any faulty equipment to the employer for replacement.

There are various types of personal protective equipment, determined by the type of work and associated risks. These include:
