Integrated Project: Hazardous Substances Permit and Activated Carbon Import

In this project, we combined two distinct services: regulatory permitting and supply-chain/import management- across different internal teams to provide the client with a holistic solution.
Client Context
The client is a large waste-sorting facility that requires activated carbon to filter a process gas stream. The plant did not hold a Hazardous Substances Permit (toxic permit) authorizing the storage of activated carbon and therefore needed to work with the authorities to secure the permit before the shipment could arrive in Israel.
Regulatory Track: Hazardous Substances Permit
As part of Sutok’s standard ordering workflow for activated carbon, we verify the validity of the client’s Hazardous Substances Permit to prevent delays during customs clearance. In this case, no permit existed, creating urgency to obtain one.
Our regulatory department acted promptly with the relevant authorities, maintaining continuous communication with the client to minimize waiting times and submitting flawless documentation, in order to avoid rework at later stages. The process was complex and required close, hands-on support.
Supply Track: Activated Carbon Selection and Import
In parallel, we:
Matched the activated carbon grade to the client’s specific needs.
Evaluated potential suppliers.
Executed the import of an optimal activated carbon for the client’s process.
Beyond the standard import workflow- vendor order placement, monitoring production and packaging timelines, managing quality assurance, regulatory compliance, and logistics through delivery to the client’s gate- we also coordinated shipment timing precisely. This ensured we met the client’s urgency while avoiding arrival in Israel before the permit was issued.
Product Profile: Renewable-Based, Eco-Friendly Activated Carbon
The activated carbon imported by Sutok is derived from renewable materials and is environmentally friendly. Key advantages include:
High adsorption efficiency: A diverse pore-size distribution enhances pollutant adsorption compared with other carbon types.
Tailored solutions: Leveraging Sutok’s expertise, each client receives a grade optimized for their process, improving resource efficiency.
Durability and regeneration: The carbon can be regenerated without significant mass loss. Post-regeneration, it returns with very high adsorption capacity and a quality certificate.
Reduced disposal and transport costs: Multiple reuse cycles via regeneration avoid landfill and transportation costs amounting.
Circular Value
By importing renewable-based activated carbon tailored to client requirements and providing life-cycle support, Sutok closes the loop for its customers- delivering both economic and environmental benefits.
Project Objective
To reduce costs associated with activated carbon use, both in procurement and end-of-life management, while ensuring full regulatory compliance.
