The next big thing in sustainable product design is regenerative food production- and more broadly, sustainable food production. Focusing the farming and manufacturing design of mass-market food products to regenerate the soil used to grow the raw ingredients will have two benefits: it will help to reduce carbon in the air by building soil that will absorb carbon, and also help safeguard these crops against droughts and help to prevent flooding. These will both help to offset the increasingly urgent climate problem, and also help to safeguard the world's food supply against the effects of climate change as we work to help solve that problem.
