Ikea, an international furniture company, has found that there is a lot of used and unsold furniture that is thrown away, which creates a wasteful society. Additionally, there are a lot of people who cannot afford to buy new furniture. Therefore, Ikea is advancing “to make products affordable and accessible by developing circular solutions for customers who want to care for the products they already own, those who can’t afford or don’t want to buy new products, and those who want to pass things on.” This way they will help people furnish their homes affordably while simultaneously helping the environment. Costumers can contribute to the Circular Economy of Ikea by donating their used furniture to be reused again, and by giving back their used furniture to ikea to be refurbished and resold. Once a product has been reused, remanufactured and refurbished, it enters its final stage where it is broken down and recycled, for its parts to create new pieces entirely.

In a society as wasteful as we live in today, solutions such as this are integral for ensuring the safety of our planet. Wasted materials that take decades to decompose account for much of the waste created on our planet, therefore, it is great to hear that large, impactful companies such as Ikea are taking part in the circular economy initiative. Thank you for sharing! I'll be sure to check it out the next time I am looking for new furniture as this sounds like a great environmental option.
Wow this is an incredible and innovative solution to a problem that is so apparent in our wasteful society! I find it invigorating that a corporate body as large as Ikea would consider the needs of the planet whilst addressing the needs of the consumer. It appears as though they have unlocked the secret to benefitting two clashing entities and generating harmony. Truly unbelievable. Thank you for sharing this wonderful bit of "circular economy" information Yona.
