Taara projects is a company created by Hopkins students and they have created the Taara Tote. The Taara Tote is a tote bag with an inner pocket to organize your belongings on the go.
Why do you consider it circular?
The Taara Tote is handmade in Baltimore, using material made entirely from recycled ocean plastics. 0.5-1lb of ocean plastics are diverted and recycled per tote bag.
Which principles of CE models are being used?
The main principle that is used in this product is “Keep Looping” because it is designed with recycled ocean plastics. Also, Product Design is used because the product is designed to be more durable.
What are the economic and environmental benefits?
By reusing ocean plastics, a lot of the ocean plastics is reused and repurposed to become something that is usable. This helps the environment by removing plastics from the ocean. This also could help the company in the long run if they are able to find an effective way to recycle the plastics because ocean plastics itself would cost less as a raw material cost.

This is a waste to wealth product because the company is up cycling. They are buying waste and recycling it to make a product out of the waste.
