They are capable of disintegrating into natural elements in a compost environment leaving no toxicity in the soil.
Which principles of CE models are being used?: Anandi pad uses the priciple of reimagining an economy that doesn’t use up finite resources but instead reuses, remanufactures, or recycles. It uses locally sourced agri-waste to create sanitary pads.
What are the economic and environmental benefits?: Economic benefit- One pack of 8 compostable Anandi pads retail at Rs. 40 ($0.5). The profit from the sale of each pack is paid as commission to the underprivileged women producing and distributing the pads. Environmental benefit- With 150,000 users currently, the solution helps reduce the sanitary pads that are disposed of in landfills annually in India.

I totally agree! I think marketing the product in other countries and on the right scale can actually make this a new norm. Everything about the product, the business model and the cause is something that people would care about. Maybe sometime in the future I would like to take up this project.
So cool to see woman helping other women while at the same time saving the environment! wish we can change this for the rest of the world as well, even where we have access to commercial sanitary pads!
